In partnership with parents and community, the mission of the NCSD is to ensure that all students develop the knowledge, skills and character necessary to achieve their highest potential and to be productive members of an ever changing global society.
Summer is flying by! It seems like just yesterday we were waving good-bye to students as the last day of school ended. Now it is the middle of July and preparations for the new school year are well underway. Summer can be a time to relax. It can also be a time when academic skills begin to erode. But with a few small activities you can help your child be ready for the start of school in September. First - read! Take time every day to read with your children or to make sure that they are reading on their own. Visit the Novi Public Library to find great books. Second - talk with your children. Vocabulary improves in households where there is lively and engaging conversation. Third - expose your children to activities and events that expand their horizons. Before you know it we will be waving hello to students as they arrive for the first day of school. Take small steps now to help your child be ready to start the school year successfully.
