WHAT IS FANFARE 2016?

FANFARE 2016 is set for Saturday, October 1, 2016. This exciting marching band event is not only for the students, staff and parents, but also happens to be our band’s largest fundraiser.  

FANFARE is a competition at which high school marching bands from across the state of Michigan perform in front of a panel of judges.  These judges assess the bands on the basis of their precision in marching, performance of music, and overall effect of the show.  The bands are divided into four divisions based upon the individual school’s student population.

First hosted at Novi High School in September 1990, FANFARE is now entering its 26th  consecutive year.  Novi has consistently been praised for the quality and hospitality shown during this event.  In past years, we are hosting 10 – 15 bands for FANFARE.  As the host, we are responsible for seeing that the competitive bands have a great experience.  There are many opportunities to assist in FANFARE, from helping as a band guide to volunteering in concessions, security, or admission.  Parent volunteers are the key to ensuring that Novi continues to uphold its great reputation and continues to be given the chance to host again in the future.

This event is important to all band families as it helps reduce the costs of participation.  A portion of the profit from the 2015 Fanfare Program was used to reduce the cost of the 2016 marching band fees.

WE NEED MANY VOLUNTEERS!

We have twelve committees working hard on planning for Fanfare and need at least one parent from each of our band families to volunteer for at least one shift to help make this a successful event. 

Later this summer, another email will be sent listing the committees and how to volunteer through Sign-Up Genius.   For now, please take the time to mark Saturday, October 1, 2016, to volunteer for one of the committees; no experience is necessary except for a smiling face. 

CRITICAL NEED - Registration Chair!

We have twelve committees working hard on planning for Fanfare.  To date, we have had a great response; many of our past chairs are present and we welcome those new volunteers who have stepped forward to help make this a successful event. 

We do have a critical chair position to be filled.  A volunteer is needed to head the Registration Committee.  The duties are to coordinate and assist in: 

  1.  Obtaining student volunteers to act as tour guides;
  2. Welcoming the bands and band directors when they arrive at the school on the day of FANFARE

This is an excellent opportunity to become involved with the FANFARE Program; no experience is necessary except for a smiling face.  Please contact James Boileau (james.boileau@yahoo.com) for more details.

2016 FANFARE Band-O-Grams

 

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE NOVI WILDCAT MARCHING BAND BY PURCHASING A “BAND-O-GRAM”

  • WHAT are Band-O-Grams?  They are a personal ad that you can place into the 2016 FANFARE Program booklet to show your support for your favorite band or color guard member.  Band-O-Grams come in the four sizes detailed in the table below; they will be printed in Black and White in the booklet.

 

  • WHO can place a Band-O-Gram?  Anyone can!  Parents can place one to show support for the child, band members can place one for their friends, and band alumni can send them to their friends in the band.

 

  • WHY place a Band-O-Gram?  It is a great way to let someone know your care and you support what they are doing!  Support that entering freshman, or wish continued success to the veterans and staff of the band!

 

  • WHEN is the deadline?  Friday, September 16, 2016However, if you place your ad before Sunday, August 28, 2016, you will get a discounted rate.

 

  • HOW do I place an ad?  Just follow the steps below:
  1. Open  the file “2016 BOG Examples.pdf” and look at the examples
  2. Open the PowerPoint file “2016 BOG Template
  3. Decide on your photo and text layout
  4. Import a photo that has a high resolution for best quality
  5. Place your text where you wish
  6. Make sure the entire ad fits 100% into the frame
  7. Save the ad as a PowerPoint file (.ppt) (Please do not convert to a PDF file)
  8. Email the completed ad to NHSFanfare@yahoo.com
  9. Make a check payable to NHSBB; please place “BOG” on the memo line
  10. Mail the check to:
