WHAT IS FANFARE?

FANFARE will be Saturday, October 7, 2017. This exciting Marching Band event is not only for the students, families, and friends, but also happens to be our band’s largest fundraiser.  

FANFARE is a competition at which High School Marching Bands from across the state of Michigan perform in front of a panel of judges.  These judges assess the bands on the basis of their precision in marching, performance of music, and overall effect of the show.  The bands are divided into four divisions based upon the individual school’s student population.

First hosted at Novi High School in September 1990, FANFARE is now entering its 27th consecutive year.  Novi has consistently been praised for the quality and hospitality shown during this event.  For 2017, we are hosting 14 bands for FANFARE.  As the host, we are responsible for seeing that the competitive bands have a great experience.  There are many opportunities to assist in FANFARE, from helping as a band guide to volunteering in concessions, security, or admission.  Parent volunteers are the key to ensuring that Novi continues to uphold its great reputation and continues to be given the chance to host again in the future.

This event is important to all band families as it helps reduce the costs of participation.  A portion of the profit from the 2016 Fanfare Program was used to reduce the cost of the 2017 Marching Band fees.

WE NEED MANY VOLUNTEERS!

We have twelve committees working hard on planning for FANFARE. We need at least one parent from each of our band families to volunteer for at least one shift to help make this a successful event. 

Mark Saturday, October 7, 2017, to volunteer for one of the committees; no experience is necessary except for a smiling face. This is an excellent opportunity to become involved with the fantastic Novi High School Marching Band. Also, your participation with the FANFARE fundraiser ensures that band fees next year will be kept as low as possible.

2017 FANFARE PROGRAM GOING GREEN!

This year, the FanFare program will be an electronic program. We see many advantages to an electronic program with just a few listed here:

  • Low-cost to purchase program (we’ll sell for $1)
  • Low-cost for individuals to purchase Feature advertisements (all full page that we’ll sell for $10)
  • Low-cost for businesses to purchase Sponsor advertisements (all full page that we’ll sell for $50)
  • No worrying about too many extras or too few available
  • Forward-thinking

2017 FanFare Program Feature Ad

Deadline for Submission and Payment: September 27, 2017 

 Show Your Support for the Novi Wildcat Marching Band by Purchasing a “FanFare Program Feature Advertisement”, formerly known as Band-O-Grams

  • WHAT are Feature Ads?  They are personal ads that you can place into the FanFare Electronic Program to show your support for your favorite band or color guard member.  Feature Ads are full page and will appear as submitted.
  • HOW MUCH are Feature Ads?  $10 each full page!
  • WHO can place a Feature Ads?  Anyone can!  Consider that parents, family or friends can place them to show support for students, band or color guard members can place them to support others, and band or color guard alumni can send them to current players/spinners. Spread the word and let everyone know about this!
  • WHY place a Feature Ads?  It is a great way to let someone know you care and you support what they are doing!  Support that entering freshman, or wish continued success to the veterans and staff of the band or color guard!
  • WHEN is the deadline?  Wednesday, September 27, 2017.  
  • HOW do I place an ad?  Just follow the steps below:
  1. Open the Adobe Acrobat file “Feature Ads Examples.pdf” and look at the examples
  2. Open the PowerPoint file “Feature Ads Template.ppt
  3. Decide on your photo(s) and text layout
  4. Import a photo that has a high resolution for best quality
  5. Place your text where you wish
  6. Make sure the entire ad fits 100% into the frame
  7. Save the ad as a PowerPoint file (.pptx) (Please do not convert to a PDF file)
  8. Email the completed ad to engler@mi.rr.com
  9. Make a check payable to NHSBB; please place “Feature Ad” on the memo line
  10. Mail the check to:

Keep in Mind:

  • The Feature Ad must fit entirely within the frame.
  • The Feature Ad will be published exactly as it is submitted.
  • The Feature Ad must be appropriate for viewing by persons of all ages.
  • Final date for accepting Feature Ads and payment is Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
  • The Program Committee reserves the right to return the Feature Ad (with payment) if received too late.
