It is the policy of the District to provide a safe educational environment. Bullying at school is strictly prohibited. This policy shall be interpreted and enforced to protect all and to equally prohibit bullying without regard to its subject matter or motivating animus.
For the purposes of this policy, "bullying" shall be defined as:
i) A repeated pattern of conduct, rooted in a power differential, that threatens, harms, belittles, humiliates, induces fear, or causes substantial emotional distress.
ii) Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a real or perceived imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time.
If a student, staff member, or other individual believes there has been an incident in violation of this policy, s/he shall promptly report such incident to a trusted adult (teacher, counselor, principal, assistant principal, lunch supervisor, etc.) where the incident occurred. The report can also be made to the Superintendent of Schools who is designated as the "Responsible School Official" for ensuring implementation of this policy.
