Chartwells is honored and excited about the opportunity to serve the students, parents and administration of Novi Schools. We bring fresh ideas and innovative concepts to school dining. Our mission is to serve nutritious, well-balanced meals that appeal to your students and school community. We know change can bring apprehension. Open and honest communication is key to easing concerns. We seek to understand your wellness and school dining objectives and challenges. Our communication approach includes working with the District to foster a relationship that is based on honesty, respect, fairness and a commitment to constant open dialog. Chartwells will regularly survey administration and students for feedback. In addition, we will organize Youth Advisory Committees which consist of school dining associates, administration, students and community members to share suggestions and feedback about our programs. We will also implement Environments™, our age-specific, customized dining program that resonates with students, administrators and parents alike. It transforms the typical cafeteria into a unique social learning experience and encourages students to make balanced choices in the cafeteria, in the classroom and at home. Chartwells recognizes breakfast is especially important for children; it’s the most important meal of the day and plays a role in improving academic performance. Our Morning Editions breakfast program where nutritious morning meals are served daily will be implemented. At the elementary level, we will introduce our nutrition and physical activity ambassadors, Theodore Eat, Sydney C. Learn, and Ava Live to focus on the importance of a balanced meal, physical activity and nutrition education. At the secondary level, this healthy approach will continue with ethnically diverse menus which appeal to students from all backgrounds. Chartwells has a support team of Registered Dietitians and Professional Chefs that work together to provide high quality, great tasting menus that will please each grade group and meet or exceed the USDA guidelines. Increased amounts of fruits and vegetables will be offered, while the nutritional profiles of popular items such as pizza, baked sweet potato fries and whole grain chicken nuggets are continually improved. For example, our pizzas are made with whole grain crusts and low fat cheese, while chicken nuggets are baked using whole grain breading. This gives students a great opportunity to make the right choices when it comes to the foods they enjoy. Throughout the District, our goal is to enhance quality and variety, while providing nutritious and appealing meals. We look forward to seamlessly integrating our innovative programs into Novi Schools where students will discover and enjoy meals which are well balanced and nutritious.
