The PSAT/NMSQT is a test that showcases the classroom skills and knowledge that are essential for college and career readiness and success. By taking the test students will benefit in these ways:
Connects students to colleges and universities across the country, and to scholarship organizations
Prepares students for the new SAT and college and fuels practice recommendations on Khan Academy
Matches students with AP courses that make the most of their academic strengths. AP classes can provide an edge in the admissions process, and an opportunity to earn college credit.
The PSAT/NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. This test is given in the fall. Students who score exceptionally well can become National Merit Semi-finalists. This test is also an excellent preparation for the new SAT which all juniors will take April 12, 2016 as part of the required battery of State of Michigan testing. This replaces the ACT which has been given in the past. The Novi Community School District is affording all juniors this opportunity at no cost.
