Plane Crash: Family manages to survive plane crash and storm in wilderness!
Survival class gives children exposure to the difficulties of surviving in the wilderness. Here students are gathering materials they think will help them build a fire.
The fire pit is a safe and secure location for fire building. Once a fire has been started, children make popcorn and eat roasted marshmallows. This one of their favorite activities. Evening fires have also been a part of camping. A sing-a-long may develop. Students are given flint and metal strikers to start a fire. They soon learn this is a difficult a task. They always ask for matches.
As part of surviving in the wild, students learn how to gather materials and build a shelter.
Teachers sometimes help out by providing a plastic tarp!
