Chartwells Logo serving up happy and healthy

Dear Parent(s) and Guardians,

As the beginning of the school year quickly approaches, we want to extend a warm welcome back to school and back to the café! While the school year will be looking different than it has in past years we are still prepared to serve your students with a happy atmosphere and healthy meals while ensuring safety for all students and staff. Our meals may be served in a different way but they will still be packed with fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean proteins, low fat dairy, and all of the other quality ingredients you have come to expect from us. We look forward to serving you and your students each and every day.

Mobile Menus Are in Your Hands

We are excited to continue to put the power of the school menu, nutrition and allergen information right to the palm of your hand via Nutrislice! You are able to print weekly and monthly menus directly from this site as well.

Nutrislice is available online through smartphones and on the web! Download the free Nutrislice App from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and search for your menus or find them on the web: novi.nutrislice.com.

Student accounts & PowerSchool Parent Portal

Student IDs and Powerschool/SmartschoolsK12 accounts are linked to their food service account. Parents may check account balances, sign up for balance alerts, view purchasing history, and deposit money all through their Parent Portal. Along with online deposits, we accept check or cash at each school. Please ensure checks or cash sent to schools for deposit on accounts clearly state the student’s first and last name. Checks should be made out to Novi Schools Food Service. Please note that this year we are strongly encouraging online deposits to help eliminate touch points within the schools.

Free or Reduced Price Meals

Please remember to complete the Free & Reduced Price Meals Application this year.  Or you are able to complete the application online here:  https://lobby.wordwareinc.com/

Free and reduced meals are available to your children based on household income, state food assistance or Medicaid status. If you believe you would qualify, it is important to complete the application because your child may receive additional benefits that could benefit your family.

Food & Nutrition Education

While our café’s are lively, and we are committed to providing the essential food & nutrition education our students need. Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to learn about their food and healthier food options through fun and engaging activities that we have planned. Through our Discovery Kitchen food and nutrition education program, brought to the café by Chartwells chefs and dietitians, students will learn about healthier meal options, especially ones with fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. In addition, students will have the opportunity to meet and engage with real Chartwells chefs through fun, exciting culinary demonstrations, videos, and new food samplings. We will feature a variety of themes and events - look for more information on these special events coming soon

We are looking forward to an exciting new year!
