Parent Concern Communication Flowchart

Our goal is to provide our parents, guardians and community members with great service.

We have created an NCSD Parent Concern Flowchart.  The following series of flowcharts identify the steps to follow on how to get questions answered, how to resolve problems, and how to navigate the “system”.

Following these steps will help answer the question or resolve the problem in the shortest amount of time possible.

It would be best for the parent or community member to start with the teacher, coach, or program leader to see if the issue can be resolved at that level. That will speed the resolution of most issues.

When there is a concern, the first step should always be to communicate directly with the person in charge of the class or program. If step one does not resolve the issue or clarify the rationale, step two is to contact the building administrator in charge or the direct supervisor. The easiest way to communicate is via e-mail or a phone call.

When a concern is raised to a supervisor, in order to investigate the situation that supervisor must speak directly with the teacher, coach, or program leader.  Please use and follow the steps outlined below to address your concerns.

Contact schools

OK2SAY

OK2SAY is a student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at school students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.

Tips can be submitted 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week by telephone, text message, email, mobile app, or via the OK2SAY website.

Submit a Safety Quick Tip

You can submit anonymous tips to the Novi Community School District by using the Safety Quick Tip App, which is available for iOS and Android devices. You will be prompted to enter the school district code when you launch the app for the first time. This code will link your Quick Tip app to your district's form. The school district code is novicsd.

Give a compliment

If you'd like to compliment a member of the Novi Community School District staff, please contact the Supervisor of Communications and Community Engagement, George Sipple, and he will pass the information on to the staff member and/or appropriate administrator. Please add "Compliment" in the message field.
