Learn about NCSD's kindergarten programs

NCSD's mission is to provide impactful opportunities for all to cultivate lifelong learning. Our vision is to have students who are passionate, empowered and prepared for their world and their future. We believe in an equity of opportunity, a culture of unity, fostering and inspiring a curiosity of learning and a community of well-being.

The Novi Community School District is a closed district, which means that we are not a School of Choice district. All students, with the exception of employee’s students, must reside within the Novi School District boundaries to attend our schools. These boundaries are not the same as the City of Novi boundaries.

If you are unsure if you reside within the Novi Community School District boundaries or want to know which elementary school your student will attend visit the elementary attendance areas map.

The NCSD Kindergarten Experience

  • Kindergarten is a full day experience, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:52 p.m.

  • The students do not have a daily nap/rest time.

  • Kindergartners will eat lunch each day in the cafeteria. They can either bring a lunch from home or order a school lunch.

  • There is also a daily snack time (Healthy snack brought from home and water bottle).

OCHD offers free vision & hearing screenings for kindergarteners

Michigan law requires hearing and vision screening before entering kindergarten.

Testing done in preschool by a Public Health Technician, licensed eye care practitioner, or doctor’s office will also fulfill this requirement.

The Oakland County Health Division offers free vision and hearing screenings for children who live and learn in Oakland County. Call 248-424-7070 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
